# How to publish your portfolio

Hi there! Your website is the file you downloaded, **my-portfolio.zip**. Pick ONE of the options below.

## Option 1: Netlify Drop (easiest, no code, no Git)

1. Go to https://app.netlify.com/drop and sign up for a free account if it asks.
2. Drag **my-portfolio.zip** onto the page as it is. (If you unzipped it already, drag the **my-portfolio** folder instead; either works.)
3. Wait a few seconds. Netlify shows your live link. Open it, that is your portfolio.
4. Optional: in Site settings, choose "Change site name" to get a nicer address.

## Option 2: Vercel

Vercel does not accept a drag-and-drop upload on its website, so use one of these:

**Using GitHub's website (no Git needed)**
1. Unzip **my-portfolio.zip** (right-click, Extract All; on a Mac, double-click it).
2. Make a free account at https://github.com and click New repository (any name).
3. On the new repository page click "uploading an existing file", then drag everything *inside* the **my-portfolio** folder into the page (the files, not the folder) and click Commit.
4. Go to https://vercel.com/new, sign in with GitHub, pick the repository and click Deploy. No settings need changing.

**Using the command line (if you are comfortable with it)**
1. Install Node.js from https://nodejs.org, and unzip **my-portfolio.zip**.
2. Open a terminal inside the **my-portfolio** folder and run: `npx vercel --prod`
3. Follow the prompts. Vercel prints your live link at the end.

## Changing something later

Open the editor again, change what you need, download a new zip and publish it the same way (on Netlify, drop the new zip on your site's "Deploys" page).

## Contact form

Your contact form opens the visitor's email app. For a form that sends you messages directly, create a free form at https://formspree.io, paste its address into "Form address" in the editor, and download again.

## Nicer link previews

Once your site is live, paste its address into "Your website address" in the editor and download again. Then the link previews (when you share your site on LinkedIn, WhatsApp and so on) show your title, description and photo. Site address is the field to fill in.
